Type Locality and Naming

The type section is established on the basis of drilling materials from borehole 820 drilled in the Binh Trung area (Thu Due District, Ho Chi Minh City) at a depth of 108.0 - 127.4 m (E = 10°47’; E = 106°46’).

Synonym: Hệ tầng Bình Trưng: Hà Quang Hải, Ma Công Cọ, Nguyễn Đức Tùng 1991, 1993; Nguyễn Ngọc Hoa et al.1996; Trịnh Dánh (in Vũ Khúc et al.) 2000.


Lithology and Thickness

Coarse-sandstone to claystone: (1).Weakly cemented quartz grit and gravel with rock fragments grading upwards into brown- grey silty claystonc, 3.8 m thick. (2). Grey silty sandstone, 7.6 m thick. (3). Grey, thin-bedded silty claystonc, 8 m thick. The total thickness of the formation in this scction is 19.4 m.

Rests unconformably on Mesozoic (Beo Bao Luc Fm of Jurassic?)
